भारत-अमेरिका व्यापार संबंधों में एक बड़ा झटका सामने आया है। अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप ने 30 जुलाई को ऐलान किया कि 1 अगस्त 2025 से भारत से आयात की जाने वाली वस्तुओं पर 25% टैरिफ (आयात शुल्क) लगाया जाएगा। इसके अलावा, भारत के रूस से हुए रक्षा और ऊर्जा समझौतों को लेकर अमेरिका ने अतिरिक्त जुर्माना (penalty) भी तय किया है।

यह फैसला ऐसे समय पर आया है जब दोनों देशों के बीच व्यापार वार्ता पहले से ही तनाव में चल रही थी। ट्रंप ने बयान में कहा, “भारत ने अमेरिका के प्रति निष्पक्ष व्यापार नहीं किया है। अब वक्त है कि भारत को कड़े जवाब दिए जाएं।”

In a major blow to India–US trade relations, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on July 30 that a 25% tariff will be imposed on all Indian imports to the United States starting August 1, 2025. The move comes alongside additional penalties on India’s recent defense and energy deals with Russia.
This aggressive stance comes at a time when negotiations between the two countries were already strained. Trump said in his statement, “India has not played fair. It’s time they understand we mean business.”

इस टैरिफ का सीधा असर भारत के फार्मा, टेक्सटाइल, ज्वेलरी, ऑटो, स्टील और केमिकल सेक्टर पर पड़ेगा। विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि भारतीय निर्यातकों को लाखों डॉलर का नुकसान हो सकता है।

The hardest hit industries include pharmaceuticals, textiles, jewelry, automotive, steel, and chemicals. Experts estimate that Indian exporters may face losses in millions of dollars, especially small and medium enterprises.

भारत सरकार ने इस निर्णय को "एकतरफा और अनुचित" बताया है। वाणिज्य मंत्रालय ने कहा, “भारत अपने किसानों, उद्यमियों और छोटे व्यवसायों के हितों की रक्षा के लिए हर जरूरी कदम उठाएगा।”
संसद में विपक्षी दलों ने भी सरकार पर निशाना साधा। कांग्रेस ने इसे ‘विदेश नीति की असफलता’ करार देते हुए विशेष बहस की मांग की।

The Indian government has called the move “unilateral and unfair.” The Ministry of Commerce released a statement saying, “India will take all necessary steps to protect the interests of its farmers, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs.”
The opposition in Parliament also lashed out at the Modi government, with the Congress party calling it a “diplomatic failure” and demanding a special session to debate the issue
